After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:
- interpret philosophical texts and navigate in various intellectual, cultural, political, and social systems
- describe the fundamental fields and figures in the history of philosophy and the key problems of systematic philosophy
- interpret intellectual, cultural, social and political conceptions, and apply philosophical method to particular social, cultural and scientific theories.
- interpret intellectual, cultural, social, and political concepts, and apply philosophical methods to particular social, cultural, and scientific theories
- prepare a coherent and professional philosophical text on an assigned theme on the basis of assigned literature
- use analytical skills and flexibility in conduct and decision-making in order to be able to work in cultural and educational institutions, in the media, and in managerial positions
For the single-study programme, students are required to complete 64 credits for type A/required courses; 60 credits for type B/selective courses (of which at least 9 must be in interpretation seminars); 27 credits for type C/elective courses; 4 credits for Introduction to Psychology; 4 credits for Introduction to Sociology; 2 credits for PE; 15 credits for Bachelor’s thesis seminar; and 4 credits for foreign language exam according to terms established for language competence of Masaryk University graduates.
For the dual concentration study programme, students are required to complete 64 credits for type A/required courses; 9 credits for type B/selective courses (of which at least 3 must be in interpretation seminars); 1 credit for PE (another in the second study programme); and 4 credits for either Introduction to Psychology or Introduction to Sociology. Students writing a diploma thesis acquire 15 credits for the Bachelor’s thesis seminar; students not writing a diploma thesis acquire 5 credits for the Bachelor’s minor thesis seminar. Students acquire 2 credits out of 4 credits for a foreign language exam (two further credits for an exam in the other study programme) according to the terms established for language competence of Masaryk University graduates.
For a combined single-subject Bachelor’s degree in philosophy, instruction is carried out as a single Bachelor’s degree according to the attached study plan and consultation schedule for the relevant semester. Consultations with teachers are carried out in person or on-line. The basic instructional materials and methodological means are available in the form of required readings and texts and in electronic media. Written examination is preferred, focusing on independent and practical implementation of the subject matter (seminar papers, essays, etc.). For this study programme, the required number of credits is 114 credits for type A/required courses, 47 credits for type B/selective courses, 15 credits for the diploma thesis seminar, and 4 credits for a foreign language exam according to terms established for language competence of Masaryk University graduates.
