After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:
- write and speak Ukrainian language at the C2 level according to the CEFR
- use deep knowledge of literary and cultural theories and the literature and culture of Ukraine as well as Slavonic countries (according to their choice)
- use their deep knowledge of diachronic and synchronic linguistic theories, including the history of the Ukrainian language
- work independently and conduct critical analyses.
Literary courses broaden their knowledge of Slavonic literatures. Students have to take a two-semester Master’s thesis seminar.
Type B/selective courses: Students have to earn at least 11 credits. They choose these courses from the offer for their study programme. They can, for example, practise technical translation, attend specialized literary or culturally oriented seminars and lectures, or alternatively, they can learn the basics of another Slavonic language.
The Bachelor’s degree final state examination is preceded by the Bachelor’s degree thesis defence.
The final state examination tests students’ knowledge of the Ukrainian language (morphology, syntax, its historical development) and 19th and 20th century Ukrainian literature. The knowledge and skills required in the exam are based on the content of the Master’s degree and the Bachelor’s degree study programme.
Students have some time to prepare answers to the assigned questions before the beginning of the oral exam.
