The studies are focussed on establishment of professional, pedagogical, psychological, communication and other personal competences as a step towards the Master's programme in Special Education Teaching for Primary and Secondary Schools. The goal is to prepare teaching assistants for special education in classrooms established for students with SEN in special primary and lower secondary schools and other school facilities. The field can be studied in daily and combined forms. It is divided into 5 specializations combined of two fields – speech therapy and the education of pupils with hearing impairments, mental impairments connected with the education of pupils with physical disabilities, visual impairment, behavioural problems, and also speech therapy. These specializations are bases for the follow-up Master's degree.
After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:
- Gain general knowledge and skills in special pedagogy
- Gain scientific special knowledge and skills in special pedagogy
- Master remedial education and communicative knowledge and skills
- Apply approaches to the education of students with SVP at the level of teaching assistant
- Methodologically suggest and process case studies of students with SVP
- general principles: pedagogy and psychology in common core subjects, a foreign language (English, German), methodology, internationalization of special education
- special education foundation: special pedagogy, introduction to health science, inclusive special education, special pedagogy assessment, pathopsychology, medical propedeutics (pediatry, neurology, ORL phoniatry, psychiatry, ophthalmology) sociology for special pedagogy, inclusive education,
- specialization: education of pupils with mental impairment, speech therapy intervention, education of pupils with hearing impairments, physical disability, visual impairment, behavioural problems.
The standard length of studies is 3 years (6 semesters). Students have to obtain 180 credits (in required, selective, elective courses) to be able to take the final examination. Mandatory part – Inclusive special pedagogy (written test, 50 questions)
Optional part – the student chooses one subject from group A and one subject from group B. The student will get 2 questions in the examination.
