The basic orientation of this study branch is to prepare a specialist in geography and to form their basic competences in educational, psychological and communicative subjects. The knowledge, skills and attitudes gained during the study form basic competences for performing the profession of the paedagogical assistent of geography at the primary school in educational and assistent work.
After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:
- have the basic theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in the fields of geography (basics of cartography, geographical information systems, climatology and hydrology, geology, planetary geography, statistic methods), pedagogy, psychology and learn
- properly apply different GIS technologies, understand basic geographical rules and explain main issues of socioeconomic and physical geography
- possess competences of assistant instructors at schools
The basic orientation of this study branch is to prepare a specialist in geography and to form their basic competences in educational, psychological and communicative subjects. The competences guarantee full qualification of the intructor at free time centres and other educational and non-educational institutions. The study specialization allows graduates of this study branch to apply their knowledge also in other professions, especially in GIS technologies, cartography, regional development, ecological centers, geographical survay, national parks, state administration, etc.
The study contains the basic courses of physical geography, social geography, regional geography, cartography, geographical information systems.
Standard length of studies is 3 years.
A part of the studies is foreign language, basic advanced knowledge of the language is expected at the minimal level A2 (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), which is built on in classes.
