In the Master's degree students are trained in the framework of the study programme Teacher training for Secondary Schools in a combination of two disciplines (Playing the piano and Teaching Music for secondary schools).

The standard duration of studies is four semesters. For admittance to the final state examination students must obtain a total of 120 ECTS credits in required, selective and elective courses.

(?)

Part of the training of teachers is the Pedagogical-psychological module and teaching practice based on the Framework of the concept of initial teacher education for primary and secondary schools. The reflected teaching practice is in accordance with the Framework concepts. The system of teaching practice is long-term and systematically directed at the development of professional competences of the student and preparing them for full mastery of the role of a teacher. The teaching practice in the Master's programme is a follow-up to the teaching practice implemented in preparation for the role of an assistant in the Bachelor's degree. At the end of the teaching practice in the Master's study programme the student should operate autonomously in the classroom and become a novice teacher who develops their skills in further education.

(?)

The Master's final state examination will test the students' ability to put on a full-length concert performance, participate in creating the dramaturgy of the programme, and to gain an orientation in the specific performance practices of various stylistic periods. It tests the general knowledge of historical and contemporary piano literature with an appropriate emphasis on current piano works, the students' ability to meaningfully discuss the topic of piano works, with the aim of confirming the appropriate level of development of communicative competences and skills for solving problems. The area of the didactics of piano playing includes the crucial stage of instrumental teaching from the point of view of human ontogeny.

(?)

A significant expansion of the professional engagement of graduates of the Master's field of study is the doctoral study programme: Specialization in pedagogy – Musical theory and pedagogy.
