The purpose of Environmental Studies is to focus on the social-science aspects of ecological problems. The goal of the program is to understand the historical and cultural sources of ecological problems with a view to their specific social, economic, political, legal, and religious aspects, among others. Students of Bachelor-level study in Environmental Studies will be guided through a basic orientation of the discipline.

After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:
- describe, explain, and classify current environmental issues from the viewpoint of social science;
- interpret current environmental issues in the contect of social and cultural processes;
- understand the role of different stakeholders in the process of environmental issue solution;
- prepare and implement a simple research project for the purpose of their final thesis.
