The basic orientation of this study branch is to prepare a specialist in Social Studies Basic and to form their basic competences in departmental, paedagogical, psychological and communicative subjects. The study contains the basic course of social science which form the vital foundation for the follow-up master study of Teaching Social Studies Basic at grammar schools. The knowledge, skills and attitudes gained during the study form basic competences for performing the profession of the consultant in the field of social sciences at the grammar school in educational and assistent work. The above mentioned competences guarantee full qualification of the intructor at free time centres and other educational and non-educational institutions. The study specialization allows graduates of this study branch to apply their knowledge also in other professions, for example in state administration, an instructor in spare time centres, a professional employee in administrative structures, NGOs and in private sector specialized in cooperation with the institutions of the European Union etc.
After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:
- create a general image of society and understand a persons role within society, from both the historical and current point of view, based on the knowledge gained in the fields of social sciences
- gain the ability to understand, interpret, critically judge and present social science texts based on the development of critical thinking and practical experience with such texts
- write a piece of text or a project related to one of the themes of social sciences
- use the listed knowledge and skills as a social sciences consultant
- apply gained knowledge and skills as a professional worker specialized in cooperating with authorities and institutions of the European Union in the spheres of public administration, non-profit organizations and the private sector
- be prepared to use modern information technologies
- be prepared to use modern information technologies in their pedagogical practice and collaborate in conducting e-learning courses
