An academically oriented Bachelor’s degree programme forms the basic knowledge and skills in the particular fields of linguistics, literature, culture, and history.

After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:
- speak and write at C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
- have theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, and lexicology; demonstrate the knowledge of linguistic terminology and be able to use it when explaining specific linguistic issues
- demonstrate the knowledge of society, culture and history of the France and other French-speaking countries, be able to identify cultural values and norms and interpret their significance in order to enhance respect for cultural and language diversity
- demonstrate an understanding of major literary movements in French and Francophone literature, their main representatives and significant literary texts and relevant literary terms; be able to analyze literary texts as forms of cultural expression

The programme is primarily conceived as an academic pre-degree to the Master’s degree programme of teaching the subject at the upper level of primary schools. Direct functioning of the graduates is possible – primarily in the pedagogical and assisting educative work of a subject teacher’s pedagogical assistant at the upper level of primary schools. The graduates have the basic competence for pedagogical work in school and non-school facilities. They are also fully qualified to work as instructors of the particular subject in leisure time centres. They are also capable of obtaining re-qualification in numerous professions easily, e.g. in public administration or company management

Standard length of studies is 3 years. A part of the studies is foreign language, basic advanced knowledge of the language is expected at the minimal level A2 (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), which is built on in classes.

The Bachelor's degree programme is primarily conceived as an academic pre-degree to the Master’s degree programme of teaching the subject. To obtain the complex teacher’s qualification, the graduates are expected to continue their studies in the Master’s degree programme, which focuses on the studies of didactics of the French language and on forming the relationships between the particular linguistic, cultural, and literary disciplines and the didactics of French.
