Regeneration and Nutrition in Sport“Movement, nutrition, sport, and health.” |
Graduates of the Bachelor's degree in Regeneration and Nutrition in Sport are able to develop and implement individual exercise and dietary programmes a) for optimizing the recovery of limiting systems of the human body after sports training or after the termination of leisure time and physical activity, b) to improve lifestyle within the primary and secondary prevention of chronic non-infectious diseases that adversely affect all components of the life of the whole population.
The programme is primarily focused on bio-medical knowledge and skills, which are complemented by knowledge of kinanthropology and social sciences. This programme will allow graduates to optimize the training of athletes in all sports and at all performance levels, as well as develop individual intervention programmes aimed at improving the health and quality of the lives of people throughout the age spectrum.
After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:
- describe the basic theoretical and methodological knowledge and practices of kinanthropology and medical, biological and social sciences
- practically apply regeneration, reconditioning and nutritional practices and resources in test (model) situations
- evaluate the nutrition of individuals, to determine body composition and physical fitness diagnostics; based on these findings suggest, along with demonstration and expert guidance, apply and recommend any intervention leading to the desired change
- set up a regeneration and nutritional programme for clients from the sporting population at all performance levels and ages; the proposed interventions may relate to healthy persons or patients or disabled and health impaired individuals
- apply the basic methodological knowledge of coaches
- create and defend their professional decisions and bear full responsibility for them
- work with basic knowledge of kinanthropological research methodology that can be applied to research projects
The relatively broad education based on bio-medical, kinanthropological and social science fields will allow the graduate of Regeneration and Nutrition in Sport to undertake difficult and specific tasks, particularly in sports clubs and sports associations when working with athletes at all performance levels, in training centres, sport schools and classes, institutions focusing on exercise and dietary interventions, and in spa and tourist facilities. Graduates have the opportunity to work both at the local, municipal or national levels in the public and the private sectors. Since the content of the study programme Regeneration and Nutrition in Sport is compatible with a similar study programme in the EU, a graduate with appropriate language skills can be employed abroad.
The work experience takes 10 hours per semester. Students are divided into groups and they choose two workplaces which they visit together.
Part of the state examination is a theoretical exam in the Fundamentals of Social Sciences, Fundamentals of Sports Training, Regeneration and Nutrition, and Medical and Biological sciences. Part of the final examination is also the defence of a Bachelor's thesis in the range of 30 to 60 pages of basic text.
