The study programme is intended for students with a deep interest in the probability theory, mathematical statistics, and their applications. It provides theoretical studies of the basic principles and methods of the probability theory, mathematical statistics, and statistical analysis of data. The students will obtain a thorough knowledge of the special parts of the given theories and will be acquainted with modern methods of data processing and stochastic modelling, including the latest computer systems.
The students are prepared for the independent research in mathematics and obtain a deeper knowledge especially in the chosen research specialization. Under the supervision of their tutors the students become acquainted with basic methods of scientific work in mathematics. We also pay attention to the preparation for pedagogical activities at universities.
(?)
After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:
- perform an independent creative work in mathematics
- publish obtained results in foreign reviewed journals and present them at international conferences
(?)
The graduates acquire a good theoretical knowledge to be able to work in theoretical and applied research. They will be able to perform stochastic modelling of real events creatively, and will be capable of independent scientific work in mathematical statistics and probability theory. They will find employment in companies and institutions dealing with the construction of models of real processes, creation of a modern specialized statistical software, and in institutions that focus on theoretical research in the area of probability and mathematical and statistical methods.
(?)
The studies are organized according to an individual study plan.
(?)
The studies are completed with the doctoral state examination and the defence of the doctoral thesis.
