Condensed Matter Physics – Field of study catalogue MU
Condensed Matter Physics“We offer a combination of fundamental knowledge and exceptional potential for its applications.” |
During their studies students will become members of research teams, and will take part in their regular research activities; after graduating, they will be able to function as independent researchers. Requirements for graduating are: one or more publications in reputable foreign journals, active participation in scientific conferences and workshops and a longer scientific stay at a foreign institution. This will guarantee the ability of the student to communicate with foreign collaborators in English and possibly in other languages. The goal of the study is to educate the students so that they should be able to independently work at universities and institutes dealing with research and development in the Czech Republic and anywhere else in the world.
After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:
- independently and creatively solve problems of condensed matter physics, starting with their formulation and solution using appropriate approaches, to the interpretation of the results
- perform independent creative scientific work published in renowned scientific journals
- apply experience gained during long-term scientific stays at high quality foreign scientific institutions
- actively use English and/or other frequently used language in scientific communication
- solve problems outside her/his specialisation
- show a good knowledge of the standards of high-quality research.

The study plans are designed considering the needs of individual students. Responsibility for the fulfilment of the study plans lies on tutors.
Doing internships abroad, taking part in conferences and publishing results in internationally accepted scientific journals are an integral part of each study plan.
The conditions are defined in detail in Part 5 and further sections of the Study and Examination Regulations:
