Upper Secondary School Teacher Training in Estetic Education |
Students will be acquainted in detail with different disciplines and sub-disciplines of art studies: general sociology, sociology of culture and art, the theory of art and aesthetics, and the philosophy of art history. In addition to historical and theoretical knowledge, students will gain an overview of the latest phenomena in the field, such as pop culture, mass media, marketing, cultural industry, and the praxeology of cultural institutions. A pedagogical overview, capability, and skills will be provided by courses in general pedagogy, psychology for teachers, general didactics, and didactics of aesthetic education. Pedagogical practice is also part of the programme.
After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:
- define the basic and special terms from the field of aesthetics and aesthetic education
- explain the relations of individual approaches to the phenomenon of teaching about art and teaching art
- formulate opinions and conclusions concerning possible didactic tendencies
- briefly and concisely interpret expert pedagogical texts and school educational programmes and create new ones
- summarize new methodological approaches
Graduates of the Master’s degree study programme in Upper Secondary School Teacher Training in Aesthetic Education will be qualified to manage and creatively develop solutions to the challenges of contemporary pedagogy in the fields of aesthetic education, culture, and art. They will be fully qualified to teach subjects in this field and to create and develop school education programmes and other conceptual school documents. In general, their knowledge will include different aspects of the phenomena of art and culture and their theoretical reflection, individual research, and publications in the fields of aesthetic education, studies of art, and general pedagogy. Advisable jobs for graduates are in schools that aim to reform and increase the quality of education in this field. Detailed knowledge of contemporary cultural and educational practice, as well as of the management and institutional aspects of education, enable graduates to perform well as managers, in full compliance with the current requirements of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.
