  • Parts of the final state examination and its content
    The final state examination is oral and is held in front of a three-member committee. Questions are selected from thematic areas published on the website of the Institute of Czech Language, Faculty of Arts, MU. Students have 30 minutes to prepare for questions. The Commission tests the knowledge of computational linguistics, corpus linguistics, and natural language processing, as well as Czech language (especially the development of its written form and its typological classification in context of other languages). The aim of the state exam is to test student's knowledge of algorithmic thinking, language description in all its levels (phonetic/phonological, morphological and syntactic), advanced techniques in natural language processing, formal grammars and language models. The knowledge of the development of the field of computational linguistics is also tested. The exam tests the knowledge gained during the four semesters of Master’s studies in compulsory theoretical courses and profile courses.
