Passing the study plan

Graduates of master's degree programs who have earned the academic title "magister" can take the state rigorous examination in the natural sciences field, including the defense of a rigorous thesis. Upon successful completion, they are awarded the academic title "Doctor of Natural Sciences, abbreviated as "RNDr." which is placed before their name.

The candidate must demonstrate a general overview at the level of a master's degree graduate in the given field and more profound knowledge in the area of the submitted rigorous thesis.

The fundamental requirement is the submission of a rigorous thesis.

Defended theses are published in the IS MU, where they can be found by faculty, year, department, field/plan: https://is.muni.cz/thesis/.

The topics of rigorous theses are the same as those of master's theses. An original analysis of quantitative biological data must support the work. Given the diversity of topics, it is recommended to consult the format of the rigorous thesis in advance with the study program guarantee.
