  • Parts of the final state examination and its content
    The oral state exam checks out the knowledge aquired at the following compulsory theoretically and methodologically oriented courses of the programme Culture, Media and Performatice Arts:

    - History of Central European Culture since 19th Century I
    - History of Central European Culture since 19th Century II
    - History of Central European Culture since 19th Century III
    - Introduction to Film Theories
    - Introduction to Media and Communication Studies
    - Introduction to Social Anthropology

    The State Exam evaluates knowledge based on lectures and compulsory literature ascribed to these courses, as well as the capacity to inteprete presented phenomenon critically and to apply the knowledge to up-to-date research problems in the area of culture, media and performative arts. The capability to synthetise the expertise aquired in the individual courses passed throughout the study will be assessed.
    Each of the assigned topics for the State Exam will be defined in rather general and open way to provide an opportunity to apply knowledge gained in three or more of the compulsory courses. The students are supposed to prepare well-structured answer to each of the topics in advance and to prove their competences and knowledge in the assigned topic. Students will draw a topic and will present their knowledge on key concepts, theories, empirical and historical context, or significant research done in the area. This stage of the exam will be followed by questions from examiners and discussion on the topic.

    - Ethnography of local film production: the role of Film Office in Brno as a mediator between the film industry and the city administration
    - Social Network Analysis of the local film festival Kino na Granicy
    - History of film distribution and exhibition in the city of Lviv. The role of cinema managers as cultural brokers
