- Final state doctoral examination and defence of the doctoral thesisThe state doctoral exam complies to the rules of the Study and Examination Regulations of MU (http://www.muni.cz/general/legal_standards/study_examination_regulations). It consists of an oral exam and a defense of the dissertation, both parts of the examination take place in one day. Candidates must demonstrate professional orientation and ability of independent creative work in the field and defend their dissertation. The content of the oral exam is defined by thematic areas mainly from the field of art theory with significant overlaps to philosophy and art history. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to reflect the knowledge they have acquired. After the initial presentation of the main contribution of their dissertation, candidates respond to two opponent reviews, at least one of which must be from external experts, and have a professional discussion with the committee. The recommended minimum extent of the dissertation is 150 standard pages, i.e. 270 000 characters including spaces, formally complying to the APA or ISO 690 standard.
- Requirements of the studyStudy and research duties during the program
During the standard period of the program, the following professional activities are required to develop the doctoral students academic skills. 1. Participation in compulsory seminars and lectures for doctoral program as well as compulsory optional seminars.
2. One published study in which the doctoral student is the main author or one of the maximum three authors in a journal (anthology) included in the WOS ISI, SCOPUS databases.
3. One study published in a journal included in the ERIH database or in the List of Peer-reviewed Non Impacted Periodicals published in the Czech Republic and one in others scholarly press.
4. At least one published chapter or a partial study in a specialized publication or an art catalogue.
5. Other texts in the scholarly press outside databases and popularizing texts.
6. Active participation at a conference (2x domestic and 1x foreign during the whole study)
7. Scholarship in a specialized foreign institution in the range of 7 weeks.
8. Active participation in specific research projects and participation in research tasks thematically defined by the department.
9. Teaching activities: practical and theoretical lecturing at the Department of Art Education in fields corresponding to the education and competences of the doctoral student (150 hours during the whole study).
10.
