LLL plan description

  • Presentation of the LLL plan (learning objectives)

The course is designed to support the postgraduate education of teachers in the field of Latin language and literature and the history and culture of antiquity in accordance with Section 10 of Decree 317/2005 Coll., on further education of teaching staff, the accreditation commission and the career system for teaching staff, and Section 24 of Act 563/2004 Coll., on teaching staff and on amendments to certain acts.

The aim of the training is to increase the professional and methodological competencies of teachers of Latin language and history at secondary and higher professional schools, which will lead to the improvement of the quality of teaching of these subjects at these educational institutions.

Participants will acquire an awareness of further developments in their field and the current state of research in Classical Philology, Latin Linguistics, Ancient History, Medieval Studies and other relevant disciplines. Thanks to the interdisciplinary focus of the programme, they will become more aware of the interdisciplinary links and overlaps between different disciplines and between the Antiquity, the Middle Ages and today. They will also benefit from the seminars by gaining inspiration for specific activities they could implement with their students, including ideas for the use of modern technologies. Last, but not least, they will have the opportunity to meet their colleagues from different schools or types of schools (e.g. grammar schools and secondary medical schools) and share their experiences in an informal setting. Support from colleagues can help them to maintain or strengthen their motivation since, especially in the case of Latin, they have to face a certain aversion to their subject in some schools.
