Course objectives
Practising topics from the beginner's course, expanding the sign supply, practising communication in the Czech Sign Language.
Learning outcomes
After end the course, the student will: have acquired a set of about 800 signs actively use the non-manual component of sign language: facial movements (facial expressions), head movements and upper torso movements master basic communication in the Czech Sign Language and subsequently topics related to the normal life situations be able to ask simple questions on the above topics and answer them

  • Introduction to the study of sign language for the Czech Sign Language course Properties of people and animals Colors, shapes, materials and things around us Modal verbs and verbs of mental process Time and time data Adjoining states of the Czech Republic and famous cities in the Czech Republic
Teaching methods
Practical exercises and theoretical background.
Assessment methods
Students get credits for 75% attendance, activity in e-learning course and for final test, or individual interview in Czech Sign Language based on a student’s video in Czech Sign Language. For the final test - video in the Czech Sign Language is played and the role of the students is to choose the correct answer from four options, or to answer the question.

Teacher's information
The course is for intermediate level students. Schedule information: classes will take place on Tuesday from 9:00 to 10:40 in the Teiresias Centre on Komenského nám. 2., classroom KOM107. Classes start on October 6, 2020 and end on January 14, 2021. In the case of online teaching, a webcam connection and activity is required (non-connection is considered as non-participation).
