- Course objectives
- In the New Institutional Economics students should learn how institutions and organizations affect economic performance, and growth, and how they are affected by changes in the economic environment. Related questions (uncertainty, asymmetric information, positive transaction cost, bounded rationality, opportunism etc.) are also treated. The course is organized as follows: In its first part behavioral assumptions are treated, in the second part problems of coordination (firms, markets, ownership, bureaucracy etc.) are handled, and in the third part the evolution of institutions is explained.
