Course objectives
The course introduces the foundations and basic skills of working with letters leading to the understanding of the construction of letter glyph, its history and classification.
Learning outcomes
Student is familiar with the history of script and is able to draw and construct historical characteristics of typographic script, knows the basic classification of types and is able to create a character based on the classified group. Student knows the typographic terminology and is able to use it in appropriate manner.

This course is an introduction to the basics of the work with writing systems, scripts. It is focused on the methods and principles which lead to the creation of more complex script compositions according to artistic principles. At the end of the course students - will know how to realize kerning; - will be able to elaborate the composition of more complex writing systems; - will improve their abilities to manualy reconstruct writing systems; - aquire the practical knowledge in using various computer tools.

Course objectives
This course is an introduction to the basics of the work with writing systems, scripts. It is focused on the methods and principles which lead to the creation of more complex script compositions according to artistic principles. At the end of the course students - will know how to realize kerning; - will be able to elaborate the composition of more complex writing systems; - will improve their abilities to manualy reconstruct writing systems; - aquire the practical knowledge in using various computer tools.

Work in studio: Assignment, consultation, working on the assignment (usage of graphic software and manual conceptual work on paper), assignment completion. Students constult the assignment with teachers and take their remarks in account. Final presentation of the projects in a digital form and paper drawings.
