Course objectives
Students will understand the main topics of developmental psychology and educational psychology and their applications, for instance the stages of mental development and intellectual development, characteristics of school childhood, the process of learning in different stages of the development, psychology of pupils motivation, class management, psychology of rewards and punishments etc.
Syllabus
  • Developmental psychology. Definitions of development. Stages of development, characterization of developmental stages from prenatal to late adulthood. Learning in respective stages. Psychology of education and nurture – nurture, styles of nurture, methods of nurture. Potential risks. Theories of learning, learning styles, conditions of learning. Constructivism in education. Psychological aspects of teaching, personal competence of teacher. Communication with students and parents. Classroom management.
