- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to bring students to an understanding of the development of communist ideology and the effects of communism in Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic after 1968. Its traditions, the structure of the communist and post-communist political spectrum, and the forms of action of communist subjects will be described and analyzed. Attention will also be paid to the issue of the relations of society to communism, anti-communism, comparison with communism in other countries and the development of the world communist movement.
- Learning outcomes
- Upon completion of the course, students will be able to: - explain the phenomenon of Czech communism and place it in the development of world communism; - identify its main characteristics; - describe its main stages of development after 1968; - characterize the post-November position of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia and other communist groups.
