- Course objectives
- FRENCH FOREIGN LANGUAGE EXAM FOR FF DOCTORAL STUDENTS:
The AIM of this course is to test that the student has at least a B2 level (CEF - Common European Framework) of French in ACADEMIC WRITING.
Students are obliged to read academic literature in French (about 60 pages) and paraphrase the content in an oral or written form (the form can be agreed upon by the examinor). If the form is written, 4 pages are required. Students also have to submit a rapport in French about their studies or profession in 1-2-pages and have to prove their ability to give an oral presentation.
(2) have the exam RECOGNIZED on the basis of an exam that was done before, or on the basis of appropriate documentation (such as a publication in the foreign language; see below). This French essay writing is regularly conducted 3 times a year: during exam periods in January/February, May/June and September. Students must register at least 3 working days before the exam date.
Exam registration involves
(1) signing up in IS and
RECOGNITION OF EXAM is possible if one of the following is provided:
(1) International language certificates at the B2 level of CEF (Common European Framework) i.e., DELF
(2) the General State Language Exam,
(3) a university degree in French,
(4) a degree obtained from a foreign university where the study language was French, or
(5) PUBLICATIONS (the student’s name must be written as the main author or first co-author in all of the following cases): book, lecture, article; or PRESENTATION at a conference held in French (the student’s name must be written as the main AUTHOR AND PRESENTER; the student must also submit a published abstract of the presentation and a written version of the presentation itself); a rejected unpublished article (the student must also submit the text and the rejection explanation). - Syllabus
- This is an EXAM COURSE ONLY where the student writes an essay on the dissertation topic or can obtain recognition based on previous work (see REQUIREMENTS below). There is NO participation component.
