Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to compare political systems and to learn more about the smaller West-European countries
Syllabus
  • 1. Comparative method and comparison of the political systems 2. Constitutions and Constitutional Courts 3. Constutional Courts in the Western Europe 4. Executive power 5. Exemples of the executive power 6. Legislative power 7. Similarities and differences in the legislative power in the Western Europe 8. Electoral systems 9. Comparison of the electoral systems 10. Self-government and other elements of the political system 11. Analysis of the other elements of the political system Class resources are available to students through Masaryk University’s online Information System (IS). The course is mostly conducted through lectures.
Assessment methods
It is necessary to get at least 25 of maximum 40 points. Seminar paper - maximum 10 points, oral seminar presentation - maximum 5 points, written final test - maximum 25 points.
