- Course objectives
- This course introduces many of the major schools of thought and topics of research in the field of social theory in anthropology. We take an historical view of the development of social theory from the mid of the 20th century until today. Students will learn about the many developments in social thought during this time by reading textbooks as well as primary source materials.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course the student is able to identify and summarize main theoretical streams of current social anthropology and connect them with appropriate names and works. S/he is able to write an anthropological essay, comparing two and more of various theoretical approaches.
