Syllabus
  • 1. In first two weeks of semester student chooses the organization and arranges the traineeship there (student can choose prearranged organization or contact new organization). Student can ask teacher for help in each step of this process. At the beginning of the semester, students will receive a current list of prearranged partner organizations. Student chooses 3 organizations at maximum and completes the special form due to his/her interests and sends it to teachers. This form also includes the short description of diploma thesis which is sent to the selected organizations. The organization can select students due to their requirements, interests and/or interviews. Students, who fail in this selection, must find another organization, because otherwise they cannot meet the requirements of the course! Students must consult the whole process of selecting an organization with teachers during first two lectures and /or individually.
  • 2. In first or second week of the semester the student prints out the "Agreement on cooperation on the practical training of students FSS MU", fills this agreement, let it confirmed by the legal representative and supervisor in the organization and submits it in triplicate to the office 5.57. Teachers manage the negotiations with the dean of the FSS and the course guarantor. One copy of the contract remains in the school, one in the organization and student gets also one copy. In some organizations, this agreement has been already signed (this information will be given by the teacher). In this case, it is necessary to fill in and print only Appendix 1, which specifies the goal of diploma thesis and main research question.
  • 3. Students get other organizational guidelines on the first group consultation.
  • Schedule of lectures:
  • 1st meeting: Introduction to the course, thematic and organizational database of traineeships, consulting research projects.
  • 2nd meeting: Discussing the placement of students in organizations and potential problems with the signing of the contract; consultation of research plans and current progress.
  • 3rd and 4th meeting: Consultation of current progress, reflection of traineeships, sharing of experiences. Each student prepares ppt presentation including: 1) the type of organization, description of practical problem (1 slide); 2) The main research question, the partial research questions and indicators (max. 2 slides); 3) research strategy, research design, sampling, data collection techniques (1 slide); 4) the limits of research feasibility (1 slide); 5) any questions for the group that student would like to discuss
  • In the last week of the semester: Submission of the Appendix 2 and 3 (after consultation with individual teachers is possible to postpone the deadline).
  • At the end of the examination period: Submission of a research protocol which has the same structure as presentation in 3rd and 4th week (see above).
