- Course objectives
- At the end of the course students should be able to:
know the development of law in their country (for Slovak students);
understand common traits an differences in the state organization development of two neighbouring Central European states in medieval times;
understand common traits an differences in the law development of two neighbouring Central European states in medieval times;
realize differences of the state organization development in two common state parts at the beginning of modern period and in 19th cent.;
to realize differences of the law development in two common state parts at the beginning of modern period and in 19th cent.;
to understand the reasons why Hungary had different approaches to the constitution;
to realize and to learn reasons of the differences in the state apparatus and law orderings in Slovakia within Czechoslovakia. - Syllabus
- 1. Introduction, establishment of the state on the territory of Slovakia. Periodization. Birth of the Hungarian state (the patrimonial state by the end of the 13th century.
- 2. Hungarian state by the year 1848.
- 3. Hungarian law by the year 1848.
- 4. Selected issues of the Hungarian Law I: general terms, personal rights, family law.
- 5. Selected issues of the Hungarian Law II: law of property, law of inheritance, law of obligation.
- 6. Selected issues of the Hungarian Law III: law of procedure, criminal law.
- 7. The aspects of state and law in the 1848/1849 revolution.
- 8. Constitutional development from 1848 to 1918.
- 9. Hungarian law from 1848 to 1918.
- 10. Slovakia within Czechoslovakia from 1848 to 1918.
- 11. The Slovakian state from 1848 to 1918.
- 12. The position of Slovakia within Czechoslovakia from 1848 to 1918.
