Course objectives
The course is a part of the topical complex Preparation of Dissertation Thesis II. Its purpose is to gather materials for key points of the dissertational thesis, research and elaboration of summary of attained level of knowledge. The specific content and objectives of the course and the resulting requirements for its completion are always based on the individual study plan and its semester content. The course is usually aimed at continuing the study of relevant sources (and searching for others), completing the definition of the methodological approach to be used in addressing the defined questions, creating a draft structure of the work and the concept of the solution. The aim is to develop in writing the basic theses and ideas on which further work will be based, usually also to produce a body of work as well as a timetable for further action, and to obtain feedback on these partial outputs that can be used for further work and for the development of relevant skills.
Learning outcomes
The specific outcomes are always based on the individual study plan and its semester content. They are determined according to the principles set by the departmental board of the relevant programme. Unless otherwise stipulated by this procedure, outputs usually include: - definition of the methodological approach that will be used to address the defined questions - proposal of the structure of the thesis and the concept of the solution - written elaboration of the basic theses and ideas, from which the further procedure will be based, usually including the creation of a part of the working text - timetable for the further procedure - it is possible to create formalized "theses" of the dissertation - obtaining feedback that can be used for further procedure and the development of the corresponding skills by holding a discussion meeting (the format and composition of which will be determined by the supervisor), at which the above outputs will be presented and discussed
Syllabus
  • The curriculum is prepared individually in agreement with the supervisor as part of the semester-long individual study plan. Consultations with the supervisor and other persons take place, and the student actively seeks opportunities for obtaining further information and feedback on the outputs already prepared. The definition of the methodological approach that will be used to address the defined questions is fully completed, and a proposal for the structure of the thesis and the concept of the solution is developed. The basic theses and ideas on which the further procedure will be based are elaborated in writing, usually a part of the working text is also presented. These outputs can also be formalised in the individual study plan, e.g. into the creation of a dissertation "thesis". The discussion of these outputs at a discussion meeting (the format and composition of which will be determined by the supervisor) usually represents a study milestone, the completion of which is an obligation set out in the individual study plan.
