- Course objectives
- The goal of the practical pediatric lessons is to acquaint students with different areas of treatment and preventive nursing in paediatrics. Student shall acquire and implement theoretical knowledge in taking intensive care of sick children. Student shall summarize her/his knowledge in diagnostics, treatment and prevention of paediatric diseases in different age periods, according to particular physiological systems. At the end of the course students should be able to perform physical examination of the patient. They should be able to assess physical findings and distinguish them from pathological ones. Students shall study standard diagnostic procedures and tests for individual clinical conditions of the child and shall be able to apply them in practice. Students shall also be able to indicate and substantiate basic laboratory and examination methods for specific disease groups. Students will learn about work organization in different departments. Students will gain practical experience how to work with medical records and other relevant documentation. Finally students shall be able to set up the diagnosis and to treat different paediatric diseases and conditions.
- Learning outcomes
- Students will be able to perform a qualified and independent examination of a child or an adolescent and to assess his or her development in all aspects,to recognize pathological symptoms in physical examination, to indicate laboratory and other complementary exams and to interpret their results. They will understand general principles as well as sspecifics of paediatric pharmacotherapy, rehabilitation care and psychological support,
