- Course objectives
- The aim of this course is to: 1) enhance students' language skills and systems to achieve B2 level of the CEFR; 2) develop students' academic and professional skills (writing a research summary; giving a presentation).
- Learning outcomes
- By the end of the course, the student will be able to: - understand spoken LSP texts at B2 level of the CEFR; - understand written LSP texts at B2 level of the CEFR; - participate in spoken interactions dealing with relevant LSP issues at B2 level of the CEFR; - summarise the important points in longer, spoken and written texts; - use a range of specialist terminology with control; - show a good command of grammar structures at B2 level of the CEFR.

- Topics: 1) Education and technology; 2) Specific learning difficulties; 3) Research and science; 4) Teacher wellbeing.

- Teaching methods
- Group discussions; oral presentations; listening and reading tasks; peer review; grammar and vocabulary study.
- Assessment methods
- Credit requirements: 1) attendance (max. two unexcused absences); 2) continuous assessment (70%): details given in course materials; 3) oral exam (30%): presentation (2 mins + Qs) + discussion in pairs (6 mins). Students must complete all continuous assessment tasks in the teaching period and score at least 65% (45.5 pts) to sit the oral exam. Students must also score at least 65% (19.5 pts) in the oral exam to pass the course.
