- Course objectives
- The aim is to complement the spectrum of knowledge necessary in the process of forming a democratic citizen.
- Learning outcomes
- At the ent of the course student should be able explain base of the Human Rights and his Application in Society.
- Syllabus
- 1. Introduction to the study of human rights and freedoms. Development of human rights. 2. The nature and characteristics of human rights. 3. The Constitution of the Czech Republic. The Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms. 4. International and EU protection of human rights. 5. Protection of human rights in the Czech Republic and Europe - judicial system. Constitutional Court. Ombudsman. European Court of Human Rights. 6. Human rights - selected issues. 7. Current problems of human rights issues (e.g. related to the covid pandemic or according to student interest).
- Teaching methods
- Seminar and discussion. Self-study.
- Assessment methods
- Subject is concluded credit. The student writes an essay, which is then discussed with the teacher at the "colloquium".
