- Course objectives
- The lecture in the form of selected chapters deals with the most important works and personalities of the earliest Czech literature. The basic epochs ( from the 9th to the 18th century) are briefly characterized, and their genre and style specificities are outlined. Students will be introduced to the basic literature, allowing them to complete and extend the previous interpretation.

- Students will be able to identify and analyze basic literary works and genres of the earliest Czech literature.

- Teaching methods
- Students will get an insight into basic trends of the earliest Czech literature, as well as into its genre specifics. Students will further develop their literary knowledge and interpretational skills with the aim to communicate with a literary work more efficiently. They will creatively use their knowledge gained not only in the classes but also in their individual study of recommended literature which they will be able to discuss regularly with their teacher.

- Type of completion: credit. A requirement for credit is the submission of an essay on the chosen topic.
