- Course objectives
- The seminar offers students a deeper knowledge of Czech Catholic literature of the first half of the 20th century. The course focuses on a detailed introduction to the work of selected authors of Czech Catholic literature of the period, on the perception of literary texts and literary analytical work with specific works. Students will be introduced to basic and extension literature related to the subject. The aim of the course is to develop and deepen students' literary historical knowledge and interpretive skills.
- Learning outcomes
- Students will gain a deeper insight into Czech Catholic literary works of the first half of the 20th century. They will be able to analyze and interpret literary works of the period. They will be able to think critically about a literary work. They will be able to formulate their ideas in discussion and argue logically.
- Syllabus
- Issues of literary works of Czech Catholic authors in the context of the time. Significant representatives and groups of Czech Catholic literary works. Religious themes in Czech Catholic literary works. Historical themes in Czech Catholic literary works. Events of the first half of the 20th century reflected in Czech Catholic literary works. Controversial themes in Czech Catholic literary works. Relevance of themes in Czech Catholic literary works in confrontation with the present.

- Teaching methods
- Students will deepen their literary historical knowledge and skills of literary analysis and critical reflection through work with selected texts enriched by non-traditional methods of perception of literary works. In doing so, they will use the knowledge gained from direct teaching as well as through independent work with recommended literature.

- Active participation in seminars (80% attendance), active participation in class discussions, final colloquial debate.
