Course objectives
The course covers various aspects of daily life in Vienna as experienced by its residents. The aim is to present the joys and concerns of everyday life in a real context. The course also includes an exploration of the cultural and linguistic environment of certain districts in Vienna.
Additional goals include elementar orientation in Vienna, comparing tourist and practical information about specific locations, practicing how to use authentic information sources for residents, and critically evaluating the information provided by AI tools against other sources.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course the students are able to:
  • Orientate themselves in the main documents and sources about Vienna
  • Navigate through Vienna
  • Reflect on the differences between information from official sources and ad hoc sources on the internet, including AI
  • Estimate the difference between tourist and authentic locations. Prepare a short trip to Vienna outside of tourist areas
