- Course objectives
- In a thematic similarity, the present course stresses the importance that is traditionally attributed to the role of a teacher and his or her communication skills development. Though most of near-future teachers are not primarily considered to become scientists, there is no reason to dismiss or reduce their methodological embedment. Moreover, the self-reflexive perspective of a teacher's role is also something not to be overlooked. Developing and upgrading the teacher's communication skills is intended to be the principal goal of this course. The emphasis will be given at a day-to-day written text praxis such as monographs-reviews, conspects, abstracts and key-words. We will try to eliminate the most frequent errors and misunderstandings in typography, as well as enpowering the ability to quotate the information sources correctly. The course is intended as a brief introductory to the field that occupies an increasingly significant place in the western academic culture.
- Syllabus
- 1. Quotations in academic works: an introductory. 2. Aesthetic and typographic parameters of written texts. 3. Science literature reviews. 4. Seminar or Seminal? Written works in a day-to-day student's life. 5. Conspects. 6. Abstracts and key-words. 7. B.A. and M.A. thesis structure. 8. Stylistic and semantic qualities of written texts. 9. Speech acts as a part of educational process and communication.
