- Course objectives
- The goal of this course is to supplement and deepen the theoretical knowledge obtained during lectures and individual study. Themes for exercises are chosen according to aim and goals of field of study (the lecture is obligatory for students whose the second main field of study is not biology).
- Syllabus
- Virus structure in general. Interaction between viruses and cells. Flu virus characteristics. HIV virus characteristics. Procaryotic and eucaryotic cells. The main differences in structure and ultrastructure between procaryotic and eucaryotic cells. Observation of G+ and G- bacteria permanent specimen in the light microscope. Bacterial cell ultrastructure. The most frequent bacterial diseases. Microbial eucaryotic cells – structure and function. Observation of germinating yeasts in the light and electronic microscope. Moulds characteristics, the most frequent mould diseases. Plant allergens. Herbs as the source of medication. Herbs as the source of drugs. The most frequent anthropozoonosis.
