Course objectives
Methodology of phonetics, lexicology, grammar, spelling and writing, the working with dictionaries. The subject deals with the forms of training the teaching of speech skills in a language class. Attention is paid to language instruments, typology of exercises and to various ways how to activate the teaching process. At the end of this course, students should be able: to define the speech skills; to explain their relation to grammar, lexicon, pronunciation and orthography; to create diverse examples; to apply the acquiered knowledges and skills at school.
Syllabus
  • Methodology of phonetics, lexicology, grammar, spelling and writing exercices. Speaking skills methodology - reading, listening, oral and written expressing. Guessing, the working with dictionaries, compensating expressions. Minilessons. Video projections with lessons demonstration. Information lessons (final exams in Russian, the European language portfolio).

Teaching methods
Seminars including presentations, class discussions, group-work and self-study. The self-study modules consist of reading assignments, projects.
Assessment methods
Requirement to the credit: 1. Regular active participation; max. two absences during the semester; homeworks. 2. Studentś portfolio. 3. Encompassment of written credit test. Workshop Ending: credit. Requirements for ending: meet the workshop requirements and the active participation (70%). Test (as a successful test is considered one with at least 70 % right answers).
