Course objectives
Students will be able to explain the development of literary trends and movements in the particular period of Czech literature. They will be able to identify and analyse the style of outstanding literary personalities of the period. They will be able to interpret literary pieces as well as justify and support their views using their knowledge of literary studies.
Syllabus
  • The course will pay attentio to literature for children and youth after 1989: - genre orientation - analysis of some contemporary piece of literature for children and youth(specific features) - contemporary developments trends of literature for children and youth - secondary literature of the subject

Teaching methods
Consultations: Students will get in classes and in individual study insight into the knowledge of history of literature for children and youth and into specific nature of the poetics of individual literary movements. Specific individual study - reading of books for children and youth Interpretation of texts - oral and written form of work Consultations will be devoted to developing their literary knowledge and interpretational skills.
Assessment methods
Course completition: credit Requirements: Knowledge of the contemporary state of children’s literature and knowledge of primary and secondary literature - oral way - mini lectures. In written: Elaboration of review of one book for children published after 2006.
