- Course objectives
- The goal of the subject is to get acquainted with basic concepts and theories of general psychology and psychology of personality and with their evolution. The subject studies should present the relations of psychology to other socially-scientific and natural-scientific branches, and the exploitation of the psychological knowledge in present sciences on man and social practice. A successful passing of this course is a prerequisite for further studies of other psychological disciplines. At the end of the course the student will be able to read common psychological text for teachers and to understand them creatively. The student should also be able to differentiate the positives of academic psychology from general popular psychological findings.

- 1. Subject matter of psychology and its evolution. Psychology of personality as a theoretical and practical field of psychology within the system of sciences. Fundamentals of psychological research.
- 2. Modern and postmodern psychology and their concepts of personality.
- 3. Bio-psycho-social conditionality of psyche. Constitutional factors of personality, temperament.
- 4. Consciousness, attention, cognition.
- 5. Thinking, languague and speech.
- 6. Memory and learning.
- 7. Emotions and feelings.
- 8. Motivation, volition and personality, needs and interests.
- 9. Imagination and creativity.
- 10. Personality – concept, definition, structure and dynamics, character, abilities. Factor and typological systems. Methods of exploring personality.
