- Course objectives
- The course focuses on modern design methods and calculations of machine parts and components and assemblies and tools for creating drawings. Students will explore basic approaches for creating drawings. The course continues and extends the knowledge gained in the teaching of "Parts I and II machines.

- 1. Design methodology.
- 2. Choice of materials.
- 3. Fundamentals of engineering drawing and normalization - creating drawings.
- 4. Computer Aided Design (CAD) - the basic concepts of 2D and 3D CAD.
- 5. Parts of machinery in terms of design documentation - shafts, pins, screws, springs, bearings, etc.
- 6. Castings - design principles.
- 7. Forgings - design principles.
- 8. Weldments and bent parts - design principles.
- 9. Current trends in design methodology.
