- Course objectives
- The aim of this course is to provide students with a means for developing and extending their use of English with particular emphasis on English related to teaching.
It focuses on the English needed in the classroom, for studying the EFL teaching and learning, for participating in teacher development and teacher-training courses, conferences, workshops etc.
The framework of the course is based upon a book called "English for the Teacher" (see Literature below), which is a language improvement course for teachers of English as a Foreign Language piloted successfully in various parts of the world with a range of different teachers.
At the end of this course, students should have practiced and improved their classroom language as well as the English used in the EFL/ESL/TEFL/TESOL theoretical discourse. They should be able to interpret materials in English for professional development of teachers and make reasoned decisions about their teaching based on theory and practice. - Learning outcomes
- By the end of the course, the student will: be able to discuss a wide range of topics connected to teaching be able to read and analyse news articles related to teaching be able to share their experiences with classmates and give advice on problematic issues in their teaching pass an exam at C1 level
- Syllabus
- Units 1-6 from English for the Teacher will be covered during the 1st semester of the course. Each session will also comprise students' presentations as well as extra practice of various aspects of grammar/vocabulary.

- Teaching methods
- There will be seminar groups in which students will participate in pair-work, group-work and whole class-work. They will give a presentation and complete tasks for homework through Moodlinka and in the text books.In their presentation and in their forum entries they will be expected to reflect on issues observed in their teaching practice.
- Assessment methods
- Completion prerequisites:
- attendance (minimum 80%);
- active participation in seminars, contribution and preparation;
- written assignment (a seminar essay);
- seminar presentation on a selected topic;

- final test Students must pass the course with 70 %, which is made up of a potential maximum of 30 points from the continuous assessment and 70 points from the test.
Teaching methods:
- work with texts; vocabulary, grammar, skills and listening practice based on the textbook;
- class discussion over the topics on the syllabus;
- students presentations and related discussion;
