Course objectives
Introduction of basic principles of inclusive and special education, diversity and its influence on pedagogical practice; Getting acquainted with the issue of support measures and special educational needs; presentation of communication rules and their limits for individual types of disability. Demonstration of elements of selected methods and forms of work supporting inclusive education (including support measures); Getting familiar with heterogeneous classes.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student will: - be able to explain basic principles of inclusive and special education; - reflect his/her own attitude towards diversity and its influence on pedagogical practice; - explain pros and cons of various forms of education of pupils with SEND with respect to the type of pupils´ special needs; - be aware of the current legislation concerning education of pupils with SEND; - be acquainted with basic rules of pedagogical communication with pupils with SEND; - will be able to use selected methods and approaches supporting inclusive education (including supportive approaches and tools); - have acquired basic theoretical and practical knowledge for individual work respecting pupils individual needs and work with heterogeneous group.

  • 1. Inclusive education 2. Legislation and international documents concerning inclusive education 3. Child, pupil, student with special educational needs/disability (SEND) 4. Work with heterogenenous group of pupils at school and in free-time activites 5. Collaboration in multidisciplinary team 6. Support needs based on a pupil´s health disability or health condition 7. Support needs derived from a pupil´s cultural environment and other life conditions 8. Support needs of pupils in substantial risk of school failure

Teaching methods
lecture, group discussion, discussion with experts, meeting and discussion with peopole with SEND, problém learning, role plays, assigned reading (according to e-learning sylabus), group work and work with case studies
Assessment methods
To be awarded credits, the students have to: - assigned reading, fulfilment of tasts; - active participation in lectures and meetings with professionals and people with SEND; - team project and its presentation.
