- Course objectives
- The semestral course introduces students into the range of common problems of music pedagogy, psychology and sociology not only from the theoretically reflexional point of view but mainly from the musically educational one. At the end of this course the students should be able to define the basic terms and to understand the historical survey of the particular disciplines. The course accents the node topics /musicality, interests and attitudes to the particular kinds and genres of art and non-art music; music preferences of children and youth; the testing possibilities of attitudes to music; mass culture etc./ A practical excursion into musically sociological researches and their results in all range of music education and music culture.
- Syllabus
- Methodological problems of music pedagogy. Modern conception of music pedagogic as a science discipline. History of music pedagogy. Comparative music pedagogy - diachronic and synchronic conception. Music psychology (subject, relation to musicology and music pedagogy, music history outline including the most significant representatives; musicality - development of opinions, modern conceptions, tests of musical abilities etc.) Musical sociology (position in the range of musicology and general sociology, special field sociology, sociology of art, sociology of culture), practice of musically sociological researches - methods and technics, selection of research objects, representativeness of selective files. Music preferences of youth. The position of music in the value orientation of youth. Problems of mass culture.
