Course objectives
The aim of the course is the development of skills and knowledge of phonetics and grammar, the development of reading comprehension skills, elementary oral and written expression, listening to original Russian texts. Another goal is to expand vocabulary, practice spelling and Russian grammar through supplementary and translation exercises, practice correct pronunciation and intonation.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this course students will be able to actively use Russian language in a wide range of communicative situations at A1 level. They also will be able to apply in practice new vocabulary (in dialogue and monologue). The students will get familiar with the basic rules of Russian spelling and will be able to apply these rules in writing. The students will be able to understand the standards of Russian pronunciation and intonation.

Teaching methods
Seminars - practical language exercises. Regular preparation for lessons, homework, stylistic work, listening and reading Russian texts, translation, supplementary and other exercises, work in pairs or groups.
Assessment methods
The control of the subject consists of a written and an oral part credit.
Written part - test (curriculum from the whole semester). The test must be written at 75%. After successfully passing the written test, the student registers for the oral part of the credit, which includes:
- analysis and correction of test errors,
- description of the situation in the photo / picture and response to the teacher's follow-up questions,
- free conversation with the teacher on the assigned topics (topics that were discussed throughout the semester, the teacher then after a short monologue asks additional questions on the selected topic).
Duration of the oral part about 15 - 25 minutes.
In addition to PJC 1, follow-up subjects - Language Seminar 1 (RJ1027) and Conversational Exercise 1 (RJ1035) - also focus on the development of monologue and dialogical speech, which are evaluated in the oral part.

Teacher's information
Compulsory participation in seminars - attendance is registered. The absence must be evidenced by a proper apology.

The first part of the practical language course. The course gradually develops communication skills, oral and written skills (reading, listening comprehension, dialogic and monologic speech, etc.). Students learn new vocabulary, get acquainted with Russian spelling, learn grammar rules. An important part of teaching is working with text (reading, answering questions, translation, repetition of sentences and phrases, etc.). Written and oral speech are regularly practiced in the form of individual tasks.

It is recommended to enroll in the courses Language Seminar 1 (1027) and Conversational Exercises 1 (1035), the content of which is to extend the basic conversational topics of the compulsory subject Practical Language Exercises 1 and their application in practice with the main emphasis on the development of dialogic and monologous speech.

A camera is required for online teaching.
