The aim of the course is to make students acquainted with the material conditions of painting and drawing.
Syllabus
  • Main themes of the course:
  • a) Painter’s books of recipes, ancient theoretical literature.
  • b) Kind of support (types of wood panels /panel makers, dendrochronology/, canvas, metal (copper, tin, iron), stone, paper etc.).
  • c) Methods of conservation and restoration, survey of the history of restoration.
  • d) Gilding, punched decoration.
  • e) Pigments and techniques of painting (oil painting, tempera, encaustic, gouache).
  • f) Techniques of wall painting (fresco, fresco secco, sgraffito).
  • g) Condition and preservation of paintings and its technological research.
  • h) Drawing and its history and techniques, preparatory works (drawings and oil sketches), underdrawing.

  • Hlavní tematické okruhy:
  • a) Malířské receptáře a teoretická literatura. Podložka obrazu (dřevo, plátno, kov, kámen, papír etc.).
  • b) Pokladová vrstva obrazu.
  • c) Podkresba.
  • d) Zlacení.
  • e) Barevné pigmenty a pojidla.
  • f) Malířské techniky (olejomalba, tempera, enkaustika, kvaš; freska, sgrafito).
  • g) Stav zachování obrazu; technologický průzkum obrazu.
  • h) Konzervace a restaurování (stručný přehled dějin restaurování).

  • Úvodní cvičení je společně s navazujícím tematickým seminářem "Znalectví a uměleckohistorická muzeologie" koncipován jako obecný úvod do problematiky malířství. Hlavní pozornost bude zaměřěna na materiální podmínky vzniku závěsného obrazu, bez jejichž znalosti se historik umění neobejde. Hlavní tematické okruhy: a) malířské receptáře a teoretická literatura; podložka obrazu; b) pokladová vrstva obrazu; c) podkresba; d) zlacení; e) barevné pigmenty a pojidla; f) malířské techniky; g) stav obrazu a technologický průzkum obrazu; h) konzervace a restaurování (dějiny restaurování). V průběhu semestru budou vybraným studentům zadány seminární práce.
