- Medieval Latin is a historic, cultural and linguistic phenomenon, continuing the old tradition of Latin language and literature of Classical Antiquity. The main objective of the course is to introduce advanced students of the Middle Ages to Medieval Latin language and literature.
- Learning outcomes
- Students should be able to evaluate the importance of the Bible to medieval Latin literature; to explain attitude of the Middle Ages toward the antiquity (including cultural revivals before the Renaissance); to characterize forms of medieval Latin prose and poetry; to use electronic tools for the study of Medieval Latin texts; to translate selected texts of medieval Latin authors.
