Course objectives
The course is outlined as a second part of two-semester lecture that aims at capturing the most important developmental phases of world theatre and drama. The lecture will focus on some historic and style epochs (the Baroque, Classicism, Romanticism, Realism, Symbolism, Theatre of the Absurd, off-off theatre etc.) as well as principal works and personalities of world drama and theatre, including selections from their work (Moliere, J. W. Goethe, K. S. Stanislavskij, B. Brecht, S. Beckett, P. Brook...)..
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course, students should be able to take bearings in the theatre history and to analyse and interpret the most important dramatic works.

Course objectives
The course is outlined as a two-semester lecture that aims at capturing the most important developmental phases of world theatre and drama. The lecture will focus on some historic and style epochs (the ancient world, Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the Baroque, Classicism, Romanticism, Symbolism, Surrealism, Theatre of the Absurd, etc.) as well as principal works and personalities of world drama and theatre, including selections from their work. At the end of this course, students should be able to take bearings in the theatre history and to analyse and interpret the most important dramatic works.

Kurz je koncipován jako dvousemestrální přednáška, jež se bude snažit postihnout význačné a podnětné etapy vývoje světového divadla a dramatu. Přednáška se zaměří jak na některé historické, stylové a slohové epochy (antika, středověk, klasicismus, romantismus, symbolismus, surrealismus, absurdní drama), tak na stěžejní díla a osobnosti světové dramatiky a divadelnictví (Moliere, Shakespeare, J. W. Goethe, Samuel Beckett, Peter Brook...). V rámci přednášky budou též interpretována a analyzována vybraná díla světové dramatiky.

  • - Drama a divadlo evropského romantismu osamělý hrdina romantického dramatu (2) - Realismus na divadle od místního koloritu k pravdě a čerstvému masu (1) - Evropská moderna proměny divadelního vidění s nástupem nových uměleckých směrů (3) - Surrealismus a dada rozvolněná hravost a neúspěch divadla (2) - Divadlo tzv. absurdní boj o nové divadlo a anti-estetiku (2) * Přednášky v jarním semestru budou sledovat cestu evropského dramatu a divadla od posledních univerzálních uměleckých směrů devatenáctého století (romantismus, realismus) směrem k pluralitním, dílčím, autorsky vyhraněným směrům století dvacátého (moderna, surrealismus, absurdní divadlo).

Course objectives
The course is outlined as a second part of two-semester lecture that aims at capturing the most important developmental phases of world theatre and drama. The lecture will focus on some historic and style epochs (the Baroque, Classicism, Romanticism, Realism, Symbolism, Theatre of the Absurd, off-off theatre etc.) as well as principal works and personalities of world drama and theatre, including selections from their work (Moliere, J. W. Goethe, K. S. Stanislavskij, B. Brecht, S. Beckett, P. Brook...)..
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course, students should be able to take bearings in the theatre history and to analyse and interpret the most important dramatic works.

Course objectives
The course is outlined as a second part of two-semester lecture that aims at capturing the most important developmental phases of world theatre and drama. The lecture will focus on some historic and style epochs (the Baroque, Classicism, Romanticism, Realism, Symbolism, Theatre of the Absurd, off-off theatre etc.) as well as principal works and personalities of world drama and theatre, including selections from their work (Moliere, J. W. Goethe, K. S. Stanislavskij, B. Brecht, S. Beckett, P. Brook...)..
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course, students should be able to take bearings in the theatre history and to analyse and interpret the most important dramatic works.
