- Course objectives
- The main objective of the course is to give a systematic introduction in the history of Greek and Roman religion. At the end of the course students should be familiar with • the terminology of comparative religious studies • the most important auxiliaries for the study of Greek and Roman religion • the most important sources (archaeological, literary and epigraphic sources) for the study of Greek and Roman religion and how to use them • the most important features of the Greek and Roman pantheon and mythology • commonalities and differences of both religious systems

- First introduction into the history of Greek and Roman religion – Sources for Greek and Roman religion – Common (inherited?) features and differences of both – The contribution of several disciplines (Classical Philology, Archaeology and Prehistory, Comparative linguistics via linguistic palaeontology) for the knowledge of Greek and Roman religion.
