Course objectives
The e-learning course English for Historians looks at church history from an ecumenical and cultural perspective over a long time span, from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. The main emphasis of the course, however, is on modern history. It is based on a series of ten specialist historical texts, supplemented by various types of tasks which focus on language skills and expert knowledge. The aim of the course is to enhance students’ ability to understand a foreign-language (English) text and to expand their knowledge of specialist terminology and their ability to interpret a text. Students can apply their newly acquired knowledge and skills in their studies, research and especially when working on their own seminars or dissertations.
