- Course objectives
- The main objective of the course is to provide basic information about the proto-historical and historical development of Latin in the Indo-European context and in relationship to the Italic languages of ancient Italy. At the end of the course the student will be familiar with various language changes, as attested by literary and epigraphic sources.b Further will be able to demonstrate, explain and comment the main archaic features on epigraphical material from the latin archaic period and to aply their knowledge in transcription of these text into classical Latin.sources.

- Teaching methods
- The course includes lectures and practice (reading archaic latin texts in orfiginal writig characters)with focus on diachronic analysis of archaic text. Regular work at home is expected.
- Assessment methods
- The course is taught as both lectures and seminars. To obtain the credits active participation in the classes is expected. 2 written smaller tests and one final test for the exam. Minimum pass level 75 % in all tests.
